you taught us (repost)…

you taught us.
how to love.
unconditionally.
without expectation.
how to let love flow.
from within.
to all around.
how to light up the darkest mood.
with a delightful smile.
full of warmth.
of love.

you taught us.
how to forgive.
completely.
no matter how grave the circumstance.
to let someone else also sleep.
the sleep of a child.
knowing he is forgiven.
truly.
for everything.

you taught us how to laugh.
even when the world turned nasty.
because joy resides within.
because your heart is pure.
because God laughs with you.
always.

you taught us how to live.
fully.
for the moment.
because it never comes by again.
this moment.
every moment.
it may be your last.
live it.
to the maximum.

you taught us how to give.
without wanting in return.
even your last piece of chocolate.
just for the sheer joy of giving.
to see happiness.
on another’s face.
knowing you are blessed by God.
always.
in his heart.
because you learnt how to give.
like Him.

you taught us how to be alive.
even in your going.
with a smile on your face.
as your body lay.
we knew what you were saying.
smile.
through even this.
that is living.
so we did.
smile.
like you.

Ahaan.
we love you.
forever.
thank you .
for being in our lives.
in such a beautiful way.
guiding us.
teaching us.
still.
leading us.
to you.
living.
loving.
laughing.
eternally.
together again.
we will be…

you taught us…

It seems silly even to think that today is Ahaan’s “birth”day. What is a birth or death anniversary? Seems so insignificant when you consider a soul’s journey through lifetime upon lifetime. So many days of “birth”. So many days of “death”. And still the soul lives on forever – no birth, no death. So why should life not be a celebration of the soul’s being? Why should “death” rob us of the joy of “is”? It shouldn’t & it doesn’t.

Every day is a celebration of Ahaan’s “life” & everything he taught us. Every day is a celebration of our own existence. Thankful that we have friends like all of you. Thankful that we are getting the opportunity to see so many truths. To experience so many “miracles” – till we’ve reached a point where we don’t consider a “miracle” as something out of the ordinary. It is the ordinary. Only, we don’t let it come through because our minds are shut. Our thinking closed to the openness & giving nature of our universe. Closed to our own divinity. To our own Godliness. It’s time to unshackle our souls. Let our souls float, fly, glide, soar, swoop – do as they please. Our soul – that part of us which is pure existence. Let it revel in all its glory – free of the burden of our mind which drags it down with “don’ts” & “can’ts” & all kinds of negativity. This life is given to us to learn, experience, live, love & laugh. Do a lot of this & your soul will bask in joy & happiness & sunshine. Forever smiling.

Today, we know Ahaan is right here with us. In our midst. In a way more beautiful than his mere physical presence. His soul, his spirit is entwined with ours. In true oneness. We continue to marvel at the way he led his life. The wisdom & faith he showed. Hopefully, we old fogeys (as he called us), will learn something from him. Hopefully some of his traits have rubbed off on us – like a reverse hereditary process. Thank you Ahaan. We could say Happy Birthday – but instead we’ll say ROCK ON!!! We love you, but you already know that…

This is an old post thanking Ahaan for being Ahaan…

the wonder of you & me…

they say you’ve gone,
why don’t i believe them?
they say you’ll never return.
why don’t i hear them?
is it ‘coz you tell me so each day?
is it ‘coz i know in my heart you forever stay?

they say i should be struck with grief.
why don’t i cry then?
they say it’s the greatest loss one can face.
why don’t i feel incomplete then?
is it ‘coz you tell me so each day?
is it ‘coz i know in my heart you forever stay?

it’s tough for them to fathom the depth of our love.
it’s tough for them to fathom the strength of our bond.
it’s just a narrow chasm that lies between life & death.
a distance too small to divide what we have.

only you & i truly know what we share.
the light of many lifetimes.
blinding us.
so that we can clearly see,
the wonder of being you & me.

THE STAR OF THE SHOW!!!

the beautiful me…
– by ahaan raheja

i am so unique
i believe in myself and everyone else
i am kind and loving to others
and help all my friends like my brothers
truthfulness is my strength
faith in God is my foundation

i don’t know what else to say…ahaan has captured everything in these lines. where does he get it from? such depth of thinking, such beauty in expression.

why can’t we all see ourselves for what we are? ‘unique’.

we’re caught in the endless race to be someone we’re really not. our lives, to a large extent, are dictated by what others will think of us. why?

if we can spend a little time each day connecting with our self, we’ll find a hundred wonderful things about ourselves – things that we’re not even aware of, perhaps. we’ve all been given gifts – i know it sounds cliched but the fact remains that we’re all God’s children – do you give one of your children more or less than the other? can you truly tell one of children you love him or her more or less than the other. you can’t!! it’s the same for God.

Ahaan has captured it so beautifully:
i believe in myself & others – no distinctions.
faith in God is my foundation – realize this & you’re eternally happy – in the arms of your loving parent…

we’ll be together again…(re-post)

our love is too deep.
too strong.
it will conquer.
it will shine through.
we’ll be together again.
i promise.

heaven & earth will tremble.
skies & mountains will tumble.
such is the power of our bond.
such is the power of our love.
we’ll be together again.
i promise.

you & me.
always.
in eternal union.
such is the power of our love.
we’ll be together again.
i promise.

it is done.

i am love…

this world is full of love.
full of hope.
full of all the wonderful things that make life worth living.
we just have to find it.
our path is that of discovery.
discovery of ourselves.
realization of ourselves.
who we truly are.
souls full of love.
one with each other.
with no differences.
this is our journey.
our true journey.
finding our way back home.
enjoy the ride.
you’ll come across all sorts.
but remember they are just the same as you are.
keep judgement at the door.
only let love come through.
love.
the one thing with the power to change the world.
when love exists there is no room for anything else.
there is no need for anything else.
it’s complete.
it’s true.
it’s all you need.
love.
that’s what we all need to bring to the table.
that’s our currency.
that’s our religion.
that’s our truth.
that’s our goal.
we can all start by loving ourselves.
love yourself first.
after that it takes no effort to love others.
self-love is the hardest.
try it.
look in the mirror & say “I love you”.
& truly mean it.
if you can do this, you can love anyone & everyone.
& life will be beautiful.
the way it’s meant to be.
full of love.
full of joy.
full of smiles.
love yourself & you’ve achieved love for all.
I LOVE YOU.
I LOVE ALL.
I AM LOVE…

you are God (part 10)…

you are all.
the unending peace.
the true joy of being.
it is all within.
it is all powerful.
it is true existence.
it is the ONLY existence.
your within.
the only reality.
far removed from the illusion that you are “living” in.
realize this.
realize this now!
know that you are divine.
know that all is you & you are all.
know that you are creating every next moment within the illusion.
know that it wouldn’t exist if you wouldn’t let it.
be aware.
be knowing.
be all.
just be.
because that is the only truth.
how do I explain?
you just exist & that’s all there is.
exist.
in a state of bliss.
of harmony.
with everything.
always at peace.
always in balance.
be aware.
all that’s happening around you is a test to see your true faith.
your true belief.
what is it you are seeking?
can’t you see you’ve already found it?
open your eyes.
not the physical eyes.
but the ones with which you can truly see.
they are the eyes of your heart.
they’ll always speak the language of love & harmony & oneness.
see with those eyes.
see with those eyes.
feel everything.
experience everything.
but KNOW that it all happens for the sole purpose of giving you the experience.
every event in your life – every one – is just to make you experience what you need to.
do not give the incident any importance.
be objective.
you are so so so blessed.
God loves you.
what more can you ask for?
give this love back to all.
give this peace back to all.
give this joy & laughter back to all.
be.
just be.
& you will be your true SELF.
you will be God.
know that you will be.
know that you already are.
GOD!!!

more lessons on life by an 11 year old….Rough Roads Make Better Drivers

This is an essay Armaan wrote in his class. The conviction he shows in believing that ahaan is still with us is amazing. He learnt at the age of 9 that it’s just the physical body that goes. The spirit stays with us forever. And, that if we cry for the one that’s ‘gone’, we’re being pretty selfish, ‘coz we cry for ourselves…

Rough Roads Make Better Drivers – by Armaan Raheja

One day I saw a boy who was very sad that his grandfather had passed away. He was really sad and I checked on him every day. I checked on his progress and he had started feeling much better. I wondered how?

I asked him how did he manage to do so. He said that God came to him in his dreams and told him that his grandfather was better off in heaven and is really happy. But when he sees the boy feeling sad, his grandfather feels sad looking at his grandson feeling sad. Those words touched his heart and from then on he was really happy for his grandfather.

I really admired that boy’s love for his grandfather and his faith in God. I really wished I had his courage in such hard times and respected him a lot. I learned one thing from him, “whatever happens, happens for the best.”

When my family fell under hard times, I always remembered the lesson and this faith brought us back to normal and we were happy. That boy was my idol for the rest of my life and I wanted to be like him.

Armaan, I want to be like you. You are showing the world that there is no reason for the grief that engulfs millions. You are my idol, like your brother is too. Two boys, two idols. We are blessed…

mom…

this is something i’d written when my mom suddenly passed away almost 8 years ago. just taught me the biggest lesson of my life – if you want to tell someone you love them, please don’t wait.
i waited & regretted it for a long time after my mom. but i learnt my lesson & told ahaan ‘i love you’ every single day of his life. thank God that i did, or rather, still do…

For Mom…

If I had just one more day with you,
I’d lay my head in your lap & sleep the sleep of a child one last time,
Bask in the unconditional love you anointed me with.
And find peace in your comforting embrace.

If I had one more day with you,
I’d search for a way to thank you for all you did for me,
Say sorry for all those nasty words I fired off in moments of heat.
And bring back that kind smile to your face that I wished for you always.

If I had one more day with you,
I wouldn’t have to search through the unkind sands of infinite time,
To see those gentle brown eyes I so adored,
Or feel that aura of kindness that easily wrapped itself around you.

But most of all, if I had one more day with you,
I’d tell you repeatedly just how much I always loved you,
I miss you, mom…
