Anil and I were married just for a couple of months when Anil gave up his business. This is the conversation between us then.
“You are at a crossroad, What is it that you want to do? Life is giving you a second chance. Follow your passion” I advised him.
” I want to write. I will write a tragedy.” he replied.
” There is enough sadness in the world why on earth would you add to it? Please write something happy. Also writer’s don’t make money so you can’t really write at this point in your life but maybe later.” I retorted.
A few days before my son Ahaan passed on, this is what he said,
Ahaan, ” You will write a script with me in the main role.”
I didn’t know what to make of it then.
Anil started communicating with Ahaan after he had passed on. In one of the messages Ahaan said, ” Pick up pen and paper and write a book.” Anil’s reaction was how could I relive everything to write it.
With the knowledge of existence and truth pouring down on us, it took him a couple of years to slowly start living it. One day he announced he was going to start writing Ahaan’s book. According to him people needed to know that inspite of adversity they could still be happy. There was a certain urgency in his voice.
A month later when he too passed on the book was only about 45-50 pages done.
When I informed Jeff Maguire ( a friend who was nominated for an oscar for the screenplay of the movie ‘In The Line Of Fire’ by Clint Eastwood) of Anil’s passing. He was shaken. It had been only three years after Ahaan, my son, but my peace and composure amazed and inspired him. I was established in the belief that only the body ( an identification) goes but where there is love there is oneness. We would never be apart. No vows of death do us part would apply. Ours was a union beyond the body. A union of the soul. Never to be separated. He urged me to finish the book saying he would help me edit.
Anil was the creative guy in the family but knowing firmly that I would be used as a mere instrument to write, I began.
Today, its done!! A humble tribute of the Raheja family, whose story has been used as the creative backdrop to explain the greatest truths of life, the way to happiness.
